Music Therapy

Importance of Music Therapy

  • mental health and wellbeing
  • speech, communication and social skills
  • body movement, coordination and physical function
  • memory, attention and cognitive function
  • the body’s ability to deal with pain

Music therapy is often used to address a wide range of conditions that affect mood, thinking, behaviour, communication and movement.

Music Therapy can be funded by NDIS! Our music therapists are all registered with The Australian Music Therapy Association.

Our Music Therapy program

  • Initial assessments: parents can discuss about their goals amongst music therapy assessment to determine clients’ current needs. In collaboration with parents, therapists, and the client, appropriate goals will be developed.
  • Music Therapy sessions: sessions are all catered to each client to meet their individual needs. The client or the parents do not need to know anything about music to be involved in the session. The session can include song listening, song writing, instrumental play, movement play, singing, and improvisation.
  • Evaluation: our therapists will regularly evaluate and discuss with parents to ensure that we are meeting our set goals.
  • Music Therapists can provide you with an NDIS report to evaluate your current NDIS plan 🙂

Music therapy, a dynamic allied health profession, harnesses the transformative power of music to provide holistic therapeutic support to children and adolescents facing various challenges.

Through carefully crafted interventions, our highly skilled music therapists utilize the inherent properties of music to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs. Whether it’s facilitating self-expression through songwriting, promoting relaxation with soothing melodies, or improving motor skills through rhythmic activities, our tailored sessions are designed to engage and empower young individuals on their journey toward healing and growth.

At Head 2 Toe Kids and Family Health, we believe in the profound impact of music therapy, and we’re dedicated to helping children discover their strengths and reach their fullest potential through the universal language of music.
